Chocolate Happiness Spreads to The Toon. Historic scenes took place in Newcastle over the weekend, following Newcastle United’s first domestic cup win for 70 years. Fans filled the streets of the city to cheer on their beloved team as they toured through in an open top bus parade, to the delight of over 150,000 people. Like much of the North, Newcastle is a proud place with a great passion for the nation sport, and a win of this magnitude, after seven decades of heartbreak, was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many who chose to turn up in person.

At Chocolate Fayre, we’ve had a long associated with sports activities, providing support and sponsorship for numerous local teams and clubs across a variety of different sports. However with the Newcastle success, we spotted an opportunity to take this support to the next level. As such, we are very proud to announce that, from 1st April, Chocolate Fayre will be the primary sponsors for Newcastle United Football Club! After in-depth negotiations, we are delighted to be able to reveal the new Chocolate Fayre sponsored Newcastle strip. While a change from the traditional black and white stripes which have been worn since 1894, we felt the new Chocolate Fayre green and white stripes made a striking alternative, which could propel the team into its new era of winning. The old affectionate name of The Magpies will also got through a rebrand, with the team now being referred to as The Pralines.

Meanwhile, the famous St James’s Park stadium in Newcastle city centre will be relocated to land just outside Barnard Castle, where there will be better parking facilities, as well as a full set of new training pitches. This is also hoped to bring in a welcome boost to the local night time economy in Barnard Castle, giving pubs and restaurants additional revenue on home game days. Traditional half time pint and pie will be replaced with a range of luxury hot chocolates and incredible football-shaped chocolates presented in individual ribbon-tied boxes.

With the local rivalry between Newcastle and Sunderland, it is hoped that discussions with Sunderland will be fruitful too, resulting in a similar deal for Chocolate Fayre as primary club sponsors. This would again result in a rebranding of the traditional red and white striped kit. But this time, to distinguish the strips from the new Newcastle colours, above, we have chosen a white-green-white strip, rather than the green-white-green stripe, which should avoid any on-field confusion during local derby matches.

In addition, the initial plans have been submitted to rename the Stadium of Light as the Stadium of Chocolate Happiness, to strengthen the brand partnership between the chocolate shop and football club.
